In a tragic incident, three Indian students from Punjab lost their lives in a road accident in Canada last week, Times Now reported on Monday. The victims included siblings Harman Somal (23) and Navjot Somal (19) from Malaud village in Ludhiana, and Rashmdeep Kaur (23) from Samana in Sangrur district, daughter of government teachers Bhupinder Singh and Suchet Kaur.
The students had gone to Canada for their studies, with Navjot Somal arriving just a few months ago on a study visa. The accident occurred on July 27 around 9:27 pm on Highway 2 in Mill Cove, New Brunswick, as reported by Canada police. The trio were traveling from Moncton city in New Brunswick when their car's tire burst, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Chamkaur Singh, uncle of Rashmdeep Kaur, mentioned that the students were returning by taxi after submitting their PR files in Moncton. Despite being rescued with severe injuries, the victims were declared dead at a nearby hospital. The taxi driver survived the incident.
The families of the victims have requested the Punjab Government to facilitate the return of the bodies to their native villages.
